Superb movie with excellent message, still engaging after so many years.Good scriptwork with Visu's touch in it

A classic EPIC! Watching it after 35 years after its release, but still, it feels engaging and interesting. This movie depicts the life of middle-class people at the start of the industrial revolution.

Master piece of Tamil Cenima

A low budget movie grossed blockbuster in all centers. 80's kids movie for its well known dialog's. The power of middle class women in family. Women make family and holds them together.

Visu's movie are well known for his dialog writing. This movie is his crown jewel. The climax is a big twist. Well executed by all the actors. This movie is one of the break through for Rahuvaran. Kannamma and Fernandes conversation was one of the highlighted and noted scene of that decade.

Another MISOGYNISTIC film

People with exiguous brain cells might like the film. But I find this film extremely misogynistic. I feel like this film promotes 'women can't survive without husband' thing - especially with Saroja's arc.
