A beat em game featuring robot ninjas!
This game was for the SNES and was apparently a remake of an arcade game from the 80's. I am guessing they actually added some stuff to it as if this was an arcade game it would cost you a lot of quarters and more time in the arcade than your parents would approve of. This game is long and this game is really tough! It is rather fun, but I have played other beat em up games from this era that are better and more enjoyable. It did have an interesting premise, but at the same time an unneeded one. I mean, why not just ninjas? Why did your characters have to be robots as well? Still, it passes the time and it takes a while to play through and looks good.
The story has this evil corrupt corporation that has basically taken over a unnamed country. The shift is turning to a group, but then the bad guy begins a new campaign to wipe them out. It is starting to be successful, so the group unleashes a trio of untested ninja androids for a final assault on this evil foe.
The game play basically has you moving left to right and encountering numerous foes in a stage, before finally encountering a stage boss. This beat em up has a rather large assortment of foes that you combat, but at the same time it also does what any beat em up from the era does by throwing in the same foe multiple times in multiple colors. The combat is simply to pick up and for the most part is effective. You have a special attack gauge that fills up and this is effective to use against multiple foes. So the game play is fun, but it does get hard in later stages as you have multiple enemies surrounding you and it gets annoying.
So a fun game, it is not to drastically different from other beat em games that feature more traditional characters such as the Ninja Turtles or other more well known characters. This one just happens to feature three android ninjas, whom in America were given very bland names. Seriously, one is called Ninja. It is not a short beat em up, actually taking enough time to make it a nice distraction for a few hours and it is different enough so it does not get to redundant.
