Berend and Steven are tired of chores, especially washing the dishes. Steven tries dragging the crockery outboard instead, but everything gets broken. Now the duo dreads the captain's return from shopping ashore. Berend is embarrassed to accept the gift they brought, but the duo is amused and relived when the box is opened.

Steven finds a drill in the tool box and can't resist trying it out throughout the ship. When he even drills a hole in the hull, it leaks. Berend finds him and tries to help, but thinks it will be OK if he drills a matching 'drain' hole. Pirate captain Piet finds the pair with fingers in both holes and astutely rushes for bottles- to use the corks.

When Berend tires of Stien rudely calling him and crew-mates weaklings because the have less muscle, banter leads to an arm wrestling competition to show who's the strongest, which goes as badly as could be expected. But Berend resorts to trickery: wearing gloves to hide that he only pretends to put up his arm, in fact a piece of wood screwed to the table, yet another body part spoils his game.

Pirate captain Piet and the other mates bake a cream cake as surprise for Berend's birthday. They hoped to eat it with him, but the glutton wants the whole cake all alone. Piet and the others accidentally still sort of get their wish when a storm starts and makes stumble each in turn with their face into the cake.

Pirate captain Piet is suspicious when Berend and Steven proudly announcing a ballet performance. It goes reasonably well, until heavy Berend proves impossible for Steven to lift. Stien already made fun of them and now steps in to take over, but only proves that too much muscle is at least as problematic.

Piet brings a aboard pirate Schelvis's legate, a treasure trove. The crew-mates have a hard time opening it without a key, only to find it contains a smaller box, again without key, and so on a few times. Finally a tiny box is revealed with a note pinned on, spelling out why the trove contains so little.

Pirate captain Piet and his crew mates play cards. Steven is tired of being scolded for playing poorly and seems to want out out, yet is hurt when Berend takes his place and, worse, orders Steven to mind the pots. Since hasty Berend neglected to kill a match, Steven has to deal with a fire in the galley, and none of the players understand his gestures attempting to call them to help.

Pirate captain Piet's ship anchors in Haaienbaai, a bay name referring to when it was still shark-infested. He and his mates pretend to Berend, who wants to take a swim, it still is, but he bravely persists with a lookout. Steven takes the mean prank further by scaring Berend with a shark-fin on his back. Steven regrets that as the lookout fails to catch on, not to react.

Pirate captain Piet and the crew-mates are all bored with their jobs, so the captain decides they should switch for a day and each try someone's envied job. At first it's great fun, but soon they start bumbling up for lack of experience or skill. Captain Berend can't navigate, cook Piet is a culinary failure, Steven can't steer.

Steven just can't sleep, tries numerous places aboard, finally dozes off inside a trunk filled with soft cloth to be washed, but the falling lock shuts him in. Berend finds him in the morning but believes the noise Steven makes to be the work of a poltergeist, and soon convinces captain Piet too, so both hide, shivering.

Pirate captain Piet goes ashore shopping. Berend is left in charge and tells Steven to do chores, first in the kitchen, then elsewhere in the ship, promising a cake as reward, each time adding another chore. The motivation works, but by the time the cake is finished, Steven is so exhausted he faints, face in the cream.

Steven just can't get a break: fist the captain has him paint the bow and gets covered in green spots, then the crew-mates insist he must take a bath, which he hates. He escapes while the tub is being filled, but is found sleeping in a hammock. Captain Piet decides to covert it in a bather launching device, helped by Berend.

Pirate captain Piet and his mates admire Berend's precious heirloom vase, which he treasures dearly but insists on having handled. Slapping Steven on the back cheerfully makes his mate drop it into pieces, which enrages Berend. Steven hides in a chest, but by the time he's discovered and betrayed, the cook found a leather bag among the pieces.

Pirate captain Piet and his mates make fun of Berend, who returns from ashore shopping with food supplies and a 'magic seed', which supposedly grows into a whole vegetable over night. Stubborn Berend falls asleep while watching it not growing at all. Steven pities him and 'plants' a cabbage, so it appears to have grown. He'll regret that mild prank after the gullible cook's next shopping episode.

Steve has a bad toot but is afraid to have it pulled out. Berend insists to do it 'the pirate way', tied with a rope to a door, but as Steven remains afraid, Piet orders a demonstration. That proves painful as the door happens to be opened at the worst moment, yet Berend's pain has a silver lining.

Pirate captain Piet is delighted that the pirate who commands the largest fleet invited him to become captain of his flag ship. The crew mates congratulate him with mixed feelings, as that would leave their tiny ship decapitated, yet Berend even prepares a last meal for Piet's trip to his new crew. Then fate strikes in meteorological shape.

Berend is making carrot soup, but forbids everyone to eat the raw carrots, even Steven, who has to peel them all. Berend catches Dteven eating one, ignoring it was passed over by a thieving crew-mate, and comes up with a 'fitting punishment': eating the entire carrot supply. Tjis leaves the others hungry, hence as angry as Steven when the truth gets know.

Pirate captain Piet tells Steven to get cleaned up after a painting job. Berend sees green spots on his skin, just the symptom he was reading about, so he assumes his mate has the terrible seaweed influenza. Unwilling Steven is forced to undergo the grueling three-part cure, comprising hanging upside down, an ice water bath and a horror diet.

Piet eagerly practices his new hobby: 'pirate golf', aboard the ship, but refuses to let the shipmates come near his brand new clubs. The rest of the crew protests, in vain, when cook Berend refuses to put meatballs in the daily soup. Steven sneakily tries his hand at Piet's golf, thus accidentally substituting the culinary lack with inedible balls.

Piet brings a fellow captain's two puppies for the crew to dog-sit. They are white, adorable and almost indistinguishable, apart from a mark in the ears, and named Binnen ('inside') and Buiten ('outside'). Piet and the dog-sitters constantly bicker which pup has been taken in- or outside, even after Steven discovers their names on the collars.

Pirate captain Piet and his crew mates meanly make fun of cook Berend for buying a blacks and blues salve in a port, claiming there's no need for that aboard. Vexed, he decides to prove them wrong the hard way. Berend collects his money back by making everyone trip over a banana peel, even after Piet realizes his game. Yet a comeuppance is lurking.

Pirate captain Piet all delighted when the weekly supplies are supplemented with a rare treat: chocolate milk, for breakfast. Berend, Steven and Piet each sneak out at night to have one or more big sips, pretending to sleep-walk when crossing another. By morning, the bottle is empty, their faces betray the truth.
