I loved the roach!

What a wonderful sense of humor! When this short cartoon began, I was absolutely taken by its great cartoon style--it is sure to make adults and children alike laugh! That's because the action is so over-the-top silly--it's far from subtle and is exactly the sort of silliness that kids love. Heck, with the cockroaches, assorted other bugs and fish wearing oxygen masks, there's a lot to make you chuckle. And, in an effort to be representative to different cultures, the narration and art style is very much inspired by the Black experience--complete with some Ebonics in the narration and inner city music.

The story is about a child named Christopher who is a very nice kid, but his room is an awful mess! Heck, it's not just dirty, but it's filthy and his own family is afraid to enter it! In fact, it's so bad, his pet fish want out and are desperate because their bowl has become so dirty--so desperate that they go to the cockroach to ask for help. With the roach's help, they are able to hatch a plot to reform Christopher and make him appreciate cleanliness! The film is a great object lesson to young kids, is entertaining for parents forced to watch and it's nice to see Black kids in a cartoon--especially ones who don't act like stereotypes.
