The film starts with an African named 'Goor' walking up a railway track, beginning his quest to retrieve a tribal mask that he has given away to a German lady tourist whilst in Africa. This film has many elements but I note it for its spontaneous outbreaks of surrealism(sudden cold winter scenes featuring excerpts from a Wagner operas). It's a harmless film that slowly tells of young Goor and his adventures into a strange European culture.
It's uncomplicated, but I found it strangely intriguing. East to watch hard to put down. It's nothing to tell us about about anything in particular. It's just an easy going movie. There are No shocks, no horror, no controversy, just a simple story unfolding.
