Uninformative, but worth checking out in case you enjoyed the movie!
Usually, I try to avoid watching documentaries and/or making-offs simply because they're tedious and also because they sometimes ruin the "magic" of a certain title. For "The Dead hate the Living", however, I really wanted to check the 20min. feature because the makers looked like such a bunch of jolly horror admirers. This low-budget film was obviously made BY horror fans FOR horror fans, so watching the making-off is pretty much like having a horror conversation among friends. It also actually raises hope for people who have the ambition of reaching something in the film industry! This documentary states that writer/director Dave Parker previously worked as an editor for Full Moon Productions and they offered him (and his actor-friends) the chance of doing 'their thing'. The result was a spirited and often ingenious horror tribute, definitely worth checking out in case you have a passion for horror. Since none of the cast members have any sort of star-status, the interviews come across more natural and totally unpretentious. They have no problem admitting their performances were inspired by other, more famous horror icons (it's great to know the spirit of Vincent Price still lives!!).
"The Dead Hate The Living" starred the unfortunate actor Matthew McGrory in one of his very first roles. Later, he gained a little fame because Tim Burton cast him as the friendly giant in "Big Fish". This sympathetic actor never really had the chance of enjoying the success. He died of natural causes in august of this year. He was only 32 years old.
