Three words to describe "Tapper": Challenging, addictive, and fun.
Michael_Pilkington9 March 2002
Challenging, addictive and fun should've been reason enough for this bartender game to stay at the arcades, but unfortunately "Tapper" barely saw the light of day. This game had quite a lot going for it, including cool graphics (even though the characters are small), gameplay, and simple controls.

In this straightforward game, you assume the role as the bartender who must serve a bunch of impatient customers their beer before they approach you at the end of the bar. The sooner they get their drinks, the better. As the game progresses, the levels become more challenging. You work at different bars, including one with aliens (?). More customers turn up and they move even faster. Try not to stress out. Also, you must make sure that no mugs fall off the bar or you lose a life. There's even a bonus level that's similar to pea in the pod game.

Although arcades don't carry this game, you can play "Tapper" on the internet and possibly download it as well. Still looks good after all these years.

An all-time classic. more enjoyable than most games, even nowadays

Compared to other video games released in that time, Tapper Budweiser's visual graphic, animation design and soundtrack are out of this world. It was ahead of its time in almost every aspect(specially the graphics). You don't see a simple black background like most other games back then and faces of the characters in this game aren't just a simple circle with hair, a mustache and an eye with no facial expressions. Tapper and his customers are fantastically well detailed.

The gameplay is engaging and fun bringing and it mainly tests your reactions, and to a smaller degree, strategy and management. There's also a fun little mini-game almost every 3 levels.

Those who made this game tried their best to make it as immersive as it gets. For instance most female costumers take their time to drink a glass while bald punks with a pin in their head drink the whole glass in a blink. The environments and costumers have a lot of diversity, from countrymen to punks and sportsmen to aliens. Also there's a good variety of funny things that Tapper does when a level is finished. Tapper truly shines when comparing its immersion with other games of its era.

I personally think Tapper Budweiser didn't get the attention it truly deserved. If you skip the IOS game, this masterpiece started and ended in 1983. Unlike pac-man and donkey kong who continued their journey for decades to come.

Beer!
General_G14 September 2005
Great game here! The object of the game is to serve beer down a table and there are different levels and its just so much fun. I have it on my 1985 Tandy personal computer. This game is just fantastic up against the boring and garbage video games of today. If you like those shooting games, if you think about it you'll enjoy this. You aim and fire, not a gun but a beer. One of your classic eighties video games. I think if they came out with a new version of Tapper I don't think it would be as good. You can't change Tapper. They'll change it to much and you'll never get use to it. They'll make it all 3D. I just wish they would put the original Tapper on CD-Rom for new computers since floppy disks are obsolete. Good thing I still got my Tandy!
