The original Broadway production of "Blithe Spirit" written by Noël Coward opened at the Morosco Theater on November 5, 1941, ran for six hundred fifty-seven performances, and closed on June 5, 1943.
Although he was extremely well-remunerated for this (rare) television acting role, Dirk Bogarde was very dismissive of the whole experience, claiming that the technical standards of American TV were poor, and that standards had been far better at the BBC in London over twenty years earlier.
