Black sheep,we have the wool to pull over your eyes!

Plot : The police need a "sheep" (a fink) ,an honest man to share a dangerous monster 's cell in jail :they fix their choice on a modest prefecture employé they pitchfork into the position of "lieutenant on temporary assignment",an imaginary one ; this naive man (played by stand-up comic Fernand Raynaud) looks the part but is not hurried to meet his cell mate ....who reveals himself much less frightening than his reputation ;besides he escapes and pulls his new mate in his run.

Pierre Chevalier directed a series of movies starring Raynaud :this one is close to the burlesque genre; it contains really funny moments:a young Jean-Pierre Marielle steals the show when he "convinces " the moron to accept this important assignment ; the scenes in the theater where they play "le comte de Monte -Cristo "are successful too because it's hard to tell the real cops/convicts from the actors and the walk-ons .Unfortunately , things become too predictable afterward: the false prisoner , while staying on the straight and narrow, reveals himself smarter than the "professional " gangster who is of course under his moll's thumb.
