RIP Ginger Spice!
injury-654473 September 2020
This music video is a perfect, tongue in cheek transition for Geri away from the Spice Girls. It literally includes a funeral for Ginger Spice! Allows Geri to play with other personas and discover herself as a solo artist.

Not to mention a truly great and criminally underrated pop song!

Her solo hit `Look at Me' was both Geri's bid for solo success and her ironic billet-doux to the frenzied press and fans who elevated the Spice Girls to the Global Icon status during the late 1990s. In the accompanying video, Geri cavorts with hearses, male dancers, and assumes stereotypes of femininity - Virgin, Boss, Vamp, etc. - in a confused casserole of camp that is presumably intended to spear the distorted demands that our superficial, celebrity-obsessed culture makes on its female stars. The short format `Look at Me' documentary is more marketing artifact than anything else, but this is no reason to ignore it. Throughout, pajama-clad Geri romps on her bed, sounding off on everything from the Spice Girls to her Latin ancestry. Not to be missed.
