Outstanding documentary
tpmetp16 October 2007
Lost in the wave of discrimination of the deep south, this film of Gov. James E. 'Big Jim' Folsom of Alabama showed that he had foresight unknown to most men of his time. Even with all the pressure to fold in to the predominant thinking of the majority, Big Jim kept his values and beliefs and defiantly went against the norm; all this while maintaining a popularity(even to this day) among the populace who did not entirely believe his stance on issues. Mr. Clem's research is impeccable; the vintage films are rare and I readily see why this documentary won awards. For historians as well as those who simply want to find out more about the political south, this is a must.
