This is what we call Masala! this film has it all. comedy, action, romance, music, thrills..what not? Do not expect any kind of logic from the movie. It was made in the early eighties by AVM productions and proved to be the biggest hit in Kamal Haasan's career spanning 50 years. This is the best of his action movies. The songs were all trendsetters, especially 'Happy New Year'(which is still famous among everyone) & 'Nethu Rathiri' (erotic song played by Kamal and Silk). Illayaraja, the music director shot to fame during this period and this movie contributed to his fame. The stunt scenes are a treat to watch.

Overall, its a fairly decent entertainer.

A simple straight commercial formula masala film, it has all the ingredients that make for a blockbuster potboiler. Kamal sings, dances, acts, cries, and generally provides all the action. The Happy New Year song (unbearable now) was a huge hit. Of course, who can forget Silk Smitha in Neththu Raathiri Yammmmmmaaaaaa!!!!!!! Gone are the days.....
