- A spaceship from Earth is trapped on the unknown planet. Based on book "Tumannost Andromedy" by Ivan Efremov.
- A group of humans on the spaceship "Tantra" are tasked with investigating a distant region of the galaxy. During the voyage home, the ship is trapped by the strong gravitational forces of an iron star. The star gave off only infrared radiation, not much visible light, so they were unaware that they were approaching so close. Short of fuel, they land on a planet orbiting the star. The humans are facing a very tough survival challenge. An alien saucer ship has invisible beings who can absorb the flesh of crew members right through their space suits. Only the light from "Tantra" can scare the predators away. Luckily, they also find another Earth ship, "Sail", that crashed on the same planet with four tanks of fuel. That will allow them to escape. A female crew member, Niza Krit, has fallen in love with the commander, Erg Noor, whose wife, Veda Kong, awaits his return. Niza tells Erg that Veda is not in love with him from the way the two acted when she saw them on Earth. Though Veda is faithful to Erg, as Niza surmised, she does not love him. She has, in fact, during the "Tantra" mission, fallen in love with space communications director, Dar Veter. Because the "Tantra" has been long overdue in returning, Dar tries to convince Veda that they should deepen their relationship. She remains resolute. Just before the "Tantra" leaves the iron star, Erg gets too close to the alien ship. Niza rushes in to save him. Erg is able to recover from his exposure to the alien rays, but Niza is hit harder. She is in a coma. The ship's doctors are hoping that she can be revived at some point when back on Earth.—Garon Smith
