It was for this film production when Vince Guaraldi first composed for animated adaptations for the Peanuts comics strip, the soundtrack for which is commercially available as originally titled, "Jazz Reflections of 'A Boy Named Charlie Brown'," which was later abbreviated into simply the film's title. In addition, it was for this production that Guaraldi created the jazz standard, "Linus and Lucy," which itself has come to be considered the de facto theme music of the franchise.
No networks wanted to buy this documentary and broadcast it. However after the success of A Charlie Brown Christmas and subsequent Peanuts specials, the title was again used for the first Peanuts feature film in 1969.
Although the documentary remained unreleased on video for years, it has since been available on DVD exclusively sold through the Charles M. Schulz museum in Santa Rosa, California.
Portions of the animated segments in this documentary were later used in original commercials for A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965).
