The story of a leopard hunter
sankuchakram18 October 2011
MRIGAYA,is a film released in the year 1989,directed by the veteran director IV SASI,penned by the legend A.K.Lohitadas.this film mainly revolves around a village which is frequently attacked by a leopard, the priest(enacted by thilakan) calls for a hunter, who died and thus his son varunni(mammooty) comes to the village, the really undisciplined life and being a womaniser the village starts to hate him,and discards him from the society, but later he get himself into a murder by accident and from there on he becomes a changed man under the surveillance of the priest, the later story revolves around the leopard which comes again back to the village, whether he captures the leopard or not is the later plot

This movie is greatly marked with the brilliant acting of bharath mammooty and iv sasi's direction.the acting of thilakan, urvasi is also applaudable.it is one of the very few Indian movie which really deals with a Jim Corbett style forest hunting, this film is one among the movies which i would recommend as must watch since it is a very good experimentation which attracted both class and mass.

A great action adventure film .....

Warning: Spoilers
Dear Lohitadas,

you packed so much into your script. It is very commendable. A village controlled by the Catholic church and a rich Christian businessman. The rivalry between Hindus and Christians. The interesting conservative characters in the village with their petty fears and herd mentality. They are all united by the fear of the tiger on the prowl. The arrival of a hedonistic hunter Varunni (one of Mammooty's best performances) turns them against each other.

The film was almost like a Western. Mammooty's introduction scene where he sneaks in on the women bathing at the shores of the river was stellar. The scene where Bheeman Raghu contracts rabies was very hard for me to watch as a kid.

The terrific supporting cast featuring Tilakan, Jaganatha Varma, Lalu Alex and Jagathi Sreekumar added so much to the film.

The action scenes where Varunni takes on the tiger were very well done. I.V.Sashi, the director deserves credit. But I was most impressed by your script and all the memorable characters that you created.

I am sure one of the new generation filmmakers would remake this film. Almost certainly with Dulqer Salman playing his dad's role.

Best Regards, Pimpin.

The story of the man in the hunter
arun_mr3 January 2018
Thangakan and Thilippos Muthalali (Jagannatha Varma) meet and decide to bring the hunter to the local government to find out that the government can do nothing to save the village from the inadvertent village. The late friend of the Philipose Muthalali's friend, Vettaikaran Cheruni, was sent to the letter by the son of deceased cheruni (Mammootty). The sorrow of the fiery pug that lives in the land for killing the leop becomes a nuisance to the natives,

The film is an event that makes us creepy.

Mammootty is the surprise that we have seen in the role of vehement hunter. Mammootty played the role of a veteran who played a role in the film. The film was released in 1989 and has rewritten the character of the malayalam characters. Finally, it is a big problem for the village to reach the tiger. But after killing the tiger, he becomes a hero of the village. Warranty finally goes to jail in the name of murdered homage.
