The night John Lennon was assassinated, Monday, December 8th, 1980 the Dolphins were playing the Patriots, not the Raiders as in the movie. The game's final score was Miami 16 and New England 13. Miami won with overtime field goal. Also, Don Meredith wasn't in the commentary booth; it was Fran Tarkenton.
The theme for MNF's first season was not "Heavy Action" as depicted in this film, but rather "Score" by Bob's Band. The opening including a montage of shots from the live truck with the director's voice cuing technicians and camera operators and counting down to 9:00 p.m.
On 5 September 1983 when Howard Cosell made the comment "That little monkey gets loose doesn't he," O.J. Simpson was not yet a booth commentator. The team was still comprised of Gifford, Meredith, and Cosell.
In Frank Gifford's first season in the booth (1971) they have him mistakenly referring to the Vikings Chuck Foreman an 'George Foreman.' But the former didn't start playing for the Vikings until 1973.
