Warning: Spoilers
Watched it because yeah I heard Mark was in it aka Henry Taggert(Neil). He did not disappointment acting wise. Neil was in my opinion the most sympathetic character and who I wanted to see more of. If you want to watch a erotic film don't watch this one it will just make you angry. I hated the main character. She is just using and kicking her ex husband every chance she gets. Just because he cheated on you does not give you the right to verbally abuse him. And didn't particularly care for the rest of them.

Just once again if you want to watch an erotic film watch one that's good. Which means not this one.

Spectacular women and sex!
insomniac_rod25 November 2006
It serves a semi-documental but let's be honest, "House Of Love" is all about hot women and steamy sex scenes.

You can't go wrong with the always sexy Kira Reed, the favorite sexy blonde in the business Regina Russell, and the amazingly hot Kelli McCarthy.

Yes, this movie has spectacular women and great, kinky sex scenes all over the running time. Also, it goes directly to the point immediately after it starts. It's all about a sex scene after another.

But on the other side, "House Of Love" delivers a solid plot and makes you understand some things about the erotic business.

Watch this quality soft core porn movie, you will get more than what you are looking for. It's all about hot women but it also has great production values. Very recommended for fans of the erotic.

Quality semi-docu-style erotica feat. Catalina Larranaga
aglaiafan22 April 2003
Well, where do I start?? First of, my incentive to watch this one was that it featured Catalina Larranaga, one of the hottest, smouldering women in erotic movies. But, not to my surprise, this one had it all.

It has intelligent and candid dialogue (esp. if you compare it to the average erotic film).

There is a good story-line switching between the docu-part (the movie centers around Catalina's character making a docu on a high-class brothel run by Kira Reed's character) and her own meanderings on that subject and several related to it. As always Catalina plays her part excellently.

Then, of course, the erotic scenes. In one word: excellent. Great bodies, great movement (both of the actresses/actors and the camera) and great audio (no deafening music drowning the sounds of love-making). Compliments to the director on not falling pray to the ever-known sex-scenes where the man's you-know-what appears to be located somewhere around his navel.

In short, a must see for the fan of the better erotica.

Actually, a superb softcore docu-drama. I give it an A+.

Warning: Spoilers
I really liked this movie. Plenty of my favorite women were in it, and the story was very good. I was pleasantly surprised by the acting in this film; there were some fairly dramatic scenes. My review is littered with spoilers; read at your own risk.

Melinda (Catalina Larranaga, who isn't in enough films) is a filmmaker setting out to make a documentary about the exploits of a whorehouse, run by Darby (Kira Reed). At the beginning, she wants to expose the women for being prostitutes, but eventually sees them as human beings doing worthwhile things.

Darby, the madam of the house, is very open with Melinda. Just about everything under the sun happens at this place, but no girl-on-girl stuff. Melinda asks why, but Darby is reluctant to answer. The answer seems to be tied to a particular visitor to the house....a person known only as "V". She tells Melinda that V is part of her private life, and doesn't wish for V to be in the film. It is revealed later on that V is actually a woman Darby has been seeing for three years. "We're in a committed relationship," Darby says.

Melinda also interviews three call girls who work at the house, each with a different personality. Pamela (Kelli McCarty) is an actress by trade and comes off as a very serious, brooding person. She has no tolerance for the girls in the house who make themselves out to be anything more than the prostitutes they all are. Rosemary (Tracy Ryan) is quite the sex fiend, but she has a wholesome aura about her. She's an artist, but spends more time turning tricks than painting. She also mentions she has an M.F.A. degree....but she's a call girl? Are there no jobs for artists out there? Sunny (Susan Featherly) is pretty much a ditzy nymphomaniac. She was doing everything and everyone before she even met Darby. It seems that Darby just provided her a safe place to do the things she'd be doing anyway. "I've got a website," Sunny says happily. I'm sure there's some awesome things on there too.

Melinda secretly tapes V and Darby getting it on in the master bedroom. She makes too much noise, causing Darby and V to find her in the back room. Now that the secret's out, Darby proposes that Melinda come to the club as a client in return for everything she wants to know about V. She does, and Darby sets her up with Rick, her resident stud. After a good seeing-to by Rick, Melinda has a change of heart about the whole thing.

The sex scenes were plentiful, and they were pretty good. Many of the women gave some outstanding acting performances. The scenes at the end, where each character says a filmed goodbye, were excellent. Rosemary showed some heartfelt emotion, and Darby was literally in tears. Pamela's goodbye felt more like her reciting rehearsed lines (maybe to stay in tune with her actress character). Sunny was emotional as well, but not nearly as emotional as the other ones. She threw in another plug for her website, of course. The final scene, where Melinda wraps up the film, is also quite good.

This was a tapeworthy film, as I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Women: A++ (Tracy Ryan put herself on my Skinemax 2nd 10 list with her performance. Susan Featherly was great; she played the part of Sunny well. Kelli McCarty served as the evil one of the group, and she shined as well. Kira Reed had some of her best acting in this film, and I thought all she wanted to do was get naked. Catalina was fantastic, and an appearance by Regina Russell early on kind of solidified the grade. In short, a great cast doing some great work.)

Sex: A- (Plenty of sex scenes, although the uncut version shows more by comparison. I saw the uncut version a few weeks ago and the R-rated version tonight. The R-rated version would get a B- for sex, but I'm basing my grade on the uncut version.)

Story: A+ (I liked the storyline and the dialogue of this film. Not insulting to the intelligence. It seemed that Pamela and Sunny wanted to go at each other, but Rosemary was the voice of reason between the three of them. The sound guy, Peter, had a thing for Rosemary, which led to her giving him his wish in the lobby, for free I might add.)

Overall: A+ (This was a movie I'm glad I got on tape. I enjoyed it almost as much as I did "Girl for Girl" a few days ago. All the principals involved put on worthwhile performances, the sex scenes were nice, and the script had some meat to it. In conclusion, "House Of Love" is a keeper and definitely a movie I'd like to see again sometime.)

Kira Reed Does It Again!
larrysmile113 June 2003
This was a different kind of mature adult movie. The story was different and interesting. It did not fit into any usual "sex formula."

I liked the extreme facial closeups of the stars being "interviewed." Seeing a person's facial gestures lets the viewer come to perceive the emotion the actor is trying to express.

And, to pick out a favorite, Ms. Kira Reed has done it again! She portrayed a range of emotions. Her almost to tears segments were believable. What is amazing is that this young lady has accumulated 49 film projects in just 10 years that she has been an actress. She is a natural woman and a pleasure to spend the time watching on the TV screen.

This film was rated too low by the viewers whom commented. I, personally, felt that the acting was smooth and on-track. The story was tastefully done. Of course, I would wonder what was in the extra minutes that were shown in the Australian version that were cut from the American version. Must have been the difference between getting an "R" rating as opposed to an "X" rating! Well, it was not necessary to have too much sex in the film. What was there was enough to move the story along.

I certainly gave this film more than a "2." The story was produced well and combined with the acting, cinematography, and narration, I felt that within it's special category it deserved an "8."

Blindsided by Love
Marlowe-6617 January 2004
Ordinarily I try to avoid softcore. Much too silly for my taste. Dry sex is a sufficient euphemism, I suppose. But this film caught me by surprise, although I was warned by a softcore fan with a droll sense of humor who recommended it. I was therefore knocked down by the script and the performances.

What are these women doing in this silly genre? Tracy Ryan's monologue about her high school sweetheart was pitch perfect. My heart broke when she said, "Hi, Chad." The other three women are equally nuanced and gifted. They can be proud of their work on this film. And so can the director and writer. Because I believe in rating each movie on its own terms, within its own genre, this is a ten. I was very moved by its simplicity and its charm. I wholeheartedly recommend it to both cynics and sentimentalists.

Best taken in context
ShaneLords26 June 2003
This is not your usual softcore flick. Given the cast in this film you might expect one sex scene after the next. But what we are treated to is a very different kind of sex flick. Forget what you think you know about Tracy Ryan, Kira Reed, and Susan Featherly. Yeah, I know what your thinking. Hot sexually charged woman ready to strip at the drop of a hat. Well guess again. These girls not only can act, but they can act with the best of any "A" list performers. If you can watch this film and not be pulled in emotionally to these girls lives as hookers then you didn't cry while watching Brian Song either. Each character is brought to life and the audience is given a real connection to the drama in their lives. This film will give you a new respect for these performers. Tracy, Kira, and Susan have out done themselves and clearly raised the bar for softcore films. If you want a lot of sex - well not here. If you want to see some of the best softcore dames in a movie you won't soon forget thanks to superb performances and a well thought out story line, get this movie today. You won't be sorry! I rated this film a 5 out of 5.
