I Knew I wasn't dreaming

Warning: Spoilers
I remember this TV show from the 70's but being born in 1973 my memories are a bit vague on it's content. It must have still had repeats on TV in about 1977-78 for me to be able to even remember it at all.

I remember the theme song 'Animal Kwackers, Animal Kwackers, Bongo, Rory, Twang and Boots' and I also remember 'Rory Rory Tell us a story Rory Rory tell it like it is' My guess it was a British attempt at some Banana Splits type thing which included, (of all things) Platform wearing Glam Rock animals of dubious planetage, that play in a band.

People used to look at me funny when I used to mention this programme as if I'd just dropped acid and I was having some form of Physcodelic journey into another cosmic realm, but at least now I know I ain't going NUTS!! Don't want to give away many spoilers on this one. but even if I did,I doubt this beauty will EVER see the light of day on British TV Screens again, not unless the Bay City Rollers decide to make a Glam Rock comeback and make the genre fashionable again (PERISH THE THOUGHT).

FREAKSHOW!
jamalionerf15 September 2002
THIS is postive proof that the older generation who grew up in the 70's spent most of their time as children witnessing a freakshow on television. Animal Kwackers, along with Picture Box, was pretty damn scary, more than any Hollywood movie ever could be. The blue Rastafarian lion looks more terryfing than anything Rick Baker could ever achieve. I think this was made by a bunch of LSD taking rock n' rollers who thought it would be funny to scare the pants off of kids expecting a Banana Splits spin off. Perhaps the scariest thing of all, however, is the fact that the music sounds as though it's been written and performed by none other than Paul McCartney. And everyone thought that John Lennon was the weirdest Beatle.
