- The Scarecrow was an animated film released in 1999 and features the voice talents of Shawn Hoffman,Belinda Montgomery and Corey Feldman. It was directed by Richard Rich and Brian Nissen who also directed The Swan Princess back in 1994. The story is as follows. We see an elderly woman named Beebee (who is really a witch) telling the audience about what is going to happen in the story via video tape style. She explains that Count Grisham found out that she is a witch and so uses a dance spell to win over a young maiden named Polly, who wants to escape the orphanage with her orphan friends Cooper,Farley and Gretchen. She secretly saves up her coins near a Scarecrow who comes to life thanks to Beebee with a magic feather. However Scarecrow is in love with Polly and sings about wanting her to look at him despite the fact his not a real person. Later in the movie and Scarecrow tries to give Polly her money as Cheswick found out Polly's hideout and gives the money to Count Grisham. However Scarecrow gets caught and does a runner, resulting in him to wish to become human. His wish gets granted by Beebee and she explains that his human form is only an illusion but he can keep it if he learns to help someone in need. He turns into a handsome traveler named Feathertop but must keep his feather in his hat at all times as well as avoiding mirrors as this will show his true reflection. He later meets Polly again at the village and asks her to be his partner at the dancing competition which contains all the money Grisham stole from her. She explains that she can't dance but Feathertop shows her at the mill. Afterwards they fall in love with one another while dancing as well as singing a love ballad called In Your Arms. Grisham suddenly shows up by interrupting the two who nearly kiss. That night at the dancing competition and Feathertop is late. Grisham dances with Polly using the love dance spell but it doesn't work as Feathertop shows up. Both Polly and Feathertop show off there dance moves and win leaving Grisham furious. Meanwhile both Polly and Feathertop profess their love for each other and decide to get married the next day. However Feathertop gets an invite from Count Grisham and his identity has blown,as Grisham discovers that Feathertop is really the scarecrow in disguise as Feathertop's true self is shown in the mirror.
Grisham ties Feathertop up where he was kept and disguises himself as Feathertop in order to marry Polly. Polly later escapes the village while Scarecrow gets his feather back ,but he is left heartbroken as he realizes that he will never be with her since Polly is now free. Grisham gets revenge and tries to destroy the bridge that allows anyone to pass through. Max the mouse tells Feathertop that Polly is in trouble and he manages to stop the bridge from collapsing. Grisham loses his balance and dies while Feathertop is unconscious. He later regains consciousness and climbs up to the top of the cliff to embrace with Polly. He tries to explain to her that his not real, having no idea that his feather is gone off his hat, until Polly tells him that he forgot his feather. Feathertop realizes that his wish to become human is now permanent and Polly and him kiss. The movie ends where the village is now called Swingtown and everyone dances while Beebee comes back and says she has other things to do and yells cut.
