During the filming of the final scene where Fred (Jonathan East) is wondering through the streets of New York City's Bowery district dressed as a homeless derelict, a group of actual homeless derelicts glimpsed in the shots behind Fred actually walked up and threatened Andy Milligan and John Borske who were filming them, which prompted Milligan and Borske to promptly flee the area in a taxi, leaving behind Jonathan East on the street who was still dressed in his filthy derelict clothing.
