THE #1 BEST COMEDY EVER 10/10
rabidpoe21 July 2004
No matter how crude he may seem....crude can't be anymore tasteful without sacrificing comedy, and comedy is why anyone would watch this. HE IS MY FAVORITE COMEDIAN AND THIS IS HIS BEST WORK! I first saw him in the late 80's on a rented VHS of a Rodney Dangerfield comedy expo (I believe it was at The Improv, but don't hold me to that). He appeared all too briefly along with Dom Irera, Judy Gold & Andrew Dice Clay...among others. I've used WinMX to download all of the tracks from Unprotected as well as his other features. Some of the Unprotected tracks online vary from the HBO feature. HBO runs this 'classic' consistently but it'll never be often enough for me. OH YEAH! It's great just listening to the audio, but the icing on the cake is how his facial expressions make his delivery perfection!!!

About suffering from pre-mature ejaculation: "Does it look like im suffering? Those aren't tears on your belly. There is no such thing as pre-mature Ejactualtion, when its time its time."

"baby im gona cum"

"wait!"

"no you hurry up"

"But I wanna cum with you..."

"You have three seconds hurry!"

"but..."

(buzzer) "time's up."

Well she didn't get to cum but tell her what we have for her Johnny..

Its a towel...

just a small sample...I almost peed my pants when I heard this the first time, and the second and third for that matter. Robert Schimmel is the funniest man alive, and when u watch or hear this you'l totally agree with me.

First Feature-Length Schimmel Special Mostly One-Note
MassDistraction16 March 2014
By the time this special was released, Robert Schimmel was a veteran. Having worked all over the country and being featured on live events organized by Rodney Dangerfield, Schimmel was on the cusp of breaking through in a big way and many thought this special would help him do just that. He works a traditional blue set here, with the material consisting mostly of ridiculous sex riffs, bits about the wife and gender politics, and rounded out with a shitting-in-public joke. During this period in his career, when he was at his best back then, he sounded like a young Rodney Dangerfield (who clearly left an impression) but when he's at his worst he sounds like your drunk uncle who tells you jokes while holding on to your arm so you can't get away. Wouldn't make another special until 2009 due to a variety of illnesses.

bar none---the funniest comedy special ever
LawHoops21 November 2002
I had never even heard of schimmel before i saw this special. This was simply the best comedy show I've ever seen. I never thought I'd say this, but he's funnier than Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Sam Kinison--and those four are the best ever in my opinion. This guy was just incredible and just naturally funny. If you are reading this and are a fan of stand up comedy, it truly is a must see. You'll never laugh harder. I hope he comes back soon with another one.

Come on, where's the video?
kencar22 June 2003
Yeah, I gotta agree with the previous reviewer. This is a 10/10. I couldn't breathe I was laughing so hard. It first aired here (Canada) a few months after HBO. I happened to catch it, just by chance, and loved it so much I told all my friends to make sure to watch the repeat. They all loved it too. I only wish I had taped it. I figured it would be out on video and DVD and I could pick it up legit. Oh well.

If HBO or whoever is reading, PUT IT OUT ON VIDEO!

Downright hilarious!!
HoraceInkling6 February 2003
I was flipping through the channels a few weeks ago on a saturday night, and there was absolutely NOTHING on. I was going to go to sleep, but I was suffering from insomnia or something :-p So anyways, I was hoping I could find a George Carlin comedy concert because I needed something to make me laugh. He wasn't on, but some Robert Schimmel had a performance. So I started watching it and began to love it after only five minutes. He makes some of the best jokes ever, next to George Carlin, and made me laugh tears. Most of his jokes are about sex though, but they are absolutely hilarious! You have got to see this guy! I give it a 10 out of 10!!
