Frank Oz and Jim Henson in A Muppet Family Christmas (1987)

Goofs

A Muppet Family Christmas

Edit

Continuity

When Doc enters the house dressed as Santa and starts handing out presents, Sprocket can be seen standing next to him, yet in the very next shot, he's looking out the kitchen door with Jim Henson.
In the middle of "Home for the Holidays", Miss Piggy ends up at the foot of the front steps with Gonzo, a few steps behind her. In the next shot, Gonzo is immediately seen on the porch, singing with the rest of the cast.
In most wide shots during the caroling medley, Janice can be seen sitting near a stairway at the end of the room, but there are a few shots where she is next to Floyd Pepper, who is always behind the couch during the carols.
Gonzo and Animal are both shown wearing pajamas while hanging from hangers, but at one point during the carol medley, Gonzo wears a red metallic suit and is with the other Muppets. Then after singing his verse, he is missing for the remainder of the carol sing.
Beaker does not appear during the first half of the caroling medley. He then suddenly appears when he and Dr. Honeydew sing a verse of "Caroling, Caroling", and he is missing again in the last shot of the medley.

Factual errors

Even in 1987, weather forecasting was good enough that a snow storm of the severity shown would have been forecast in advance. Mrs. Bear's flight to California would likely have been cancelled.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When Fozzie introduces Kermit to his mother, he says that Kermit is his boss who gave him his big break. Since they are all together in the Christmas home movie when they are babies, they knew each other much earlier but Fozzie means Kermit gave him his break into show business.

Revealing mistakes

While driving up to the farmhouse, the gear shift is in park.

Miscellaneous

During the carol sing there are two rooms full of Muppets, but some Muppets appear in both rooms at the same time. These characters include Statler and Waldorf, Simon Soundman, the Christmas Turkey, Camilla, the Two-Headed Monster, and a female lavender Anything Muppet.
During the fade right before "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" during the carol sing, the puppeteer that performs Camilla and the Christmas Turkey drops both puppets too early.

Crew or equipment visible

When the Turkey directs The Swedish Chef to Big Bird ("If you think I'm a nice fat bird... LOOK AT THIS!"), a puppeteer's head briefly pops up.
A puppeteer's head is briefly visible as the characters are marching into the house, slipping on the "icy patch" and introducing themselves to Ma Bear.
During the caroling medley, we can see a puppeteer's black sleeve operating a Muppaphone.

Plot holes

Mrs. Bear says Stantler and Waldorf come visit her every Christmas, but she had been planning to be in California this year. Unless she invited them last minute and they came before the storm hit, they shouldn't have been there.
Why does Baby Miss Piggy have a stuff animal of Kermit if this was before they were famous?
