Not one of Golden Films' best, but still a decent animation all the same
TheLittleSongbird1 July 2012
I have always loved animation, and as part of my obscure animation quest(consisting of mainly Golden Films, Burbank and Jetlag animations) I saw Jack and the Beanstalk. It is not one of Golden Films' better efforts like Thumbelina, The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio, but it is better for example than Anastasia. The animation is not bad or amazing, the characters don't flow as naturally in movement as they should, but while lacking the fluidity of Three Musketeers for example the backgrounds are colourful enough. The music is as ever lovely, and the story is engaging for especially the target audience and containing enough of the details of the story to please anybody. The writing is a little corny in places but on the most part acceptable. Once I got used to Jack's less than boyish appearance, I found the characters on the whole likable, and the voice acting from especially Rob Paulsen as Jack is suitably dynamic. In a nutshell, neither among Golden Films' best or worst but decent regardless. 7/10 Bethany Cox
