Mansplaining
A dairymaid is churning butter. A young toff comes along and tells her she is doing it wrong. She ignores his advice, so he takes over the task with disastrous results.
The word "mansplaining" may be a 21st century invention, but this short, one-joke comedy from the 19th century demonstrates that the action has been going on for a lot longer than that. So has women's reaction to it.
Given the very short length of this film, I believe it was originally meant for the mutoscope division of American Mutoscope & Biograph's catalogue. The mutoscope was AM&B's peep-show machine; the venue's popularity would begin to decline the following decade.
