Try A Little Tenderness
When stick-up man Eddie Dunn is dragged into the station by an assortment of cops, police chief's daughter Patsy De Forest insists that treating him kindly will have better results than beating him him with the police's (obviously rubber) night sticks. But when she is grabbed by Dunn's confederates as soon as she she leaves the station, will the police trade Dunn for her, or will Hughie Mack rescue her?
There's no way of knowing, because the copy of this Vitagraph comedy ends abruptly there. Is it missing a minute of action or an entire reel?
Mack was Vitagraph's big comedy star at this point, and under the direction of Larry Semon, who may be in this comedy, but I didn't spot him. The initial gag, with Mack napping inside a barrel is a good one, and typical of Semon's comic-strip style visuals.
