Documentary focus on the performance of various athletes during the PanAmerican Games held in San Juan, PR. Highlights include performances by Cheyenne Vassallo and his conflict of representing USA versus his Puerto Rican origin; legendary Cuban athlete Alberto Juantorena; and the final defeat of PR basketball team against USA team. All athletes expressed their hopes of being "a step away" from the 1980 Olympics; however, these hopes were shattered by the political crisis and the eventual USA boycott to the Games held in Moscow in 1980.
