Colin Firth, Renée Zellweger, and Hugh Grant in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)

Goofs

Bridget Jones's Diary

Edit

Continuity

(at around 29 mins) When Bridget's Mum talks to Bridget about leaving her Dad, Julian appears and hovers in the background in one shot, and is gone in the next but reappears and repeats his actions from the earlier shot.
(at around 12 mins) In her second day at the office at the beginning of the movie, Bridget's coat changes position on the back of her chair between shots of when she sits down and just after the glare from the boss.
(at around 1h 3 mins) When Bridget and Mark are in Bridget's kitchen making dinner, Mark's tie is pulled down off his neck and to one side. When the doorbell buzzes, the tie is neatly tighten to his neck.
(at around 1h 27 mins) When Mark Darcy goes to pick up Bridget's diary from the table (just after Bridget goes off to her bedroom to change into her 'genuinely tiny knickers'), the diary is on the 29th November. The next shot, of him actually picking up the book, shows it to be open on the 10th/11th November.
(at around 18 mins) We see Bridget struggling to pull on her granny knickers with nothing else on her lower behalf, but a few scenes later, Daniel pulls up her skirt to reveal them over her tights/pantyhose.

Factual errors

Bridget could never afford that (very large by London standards) apartment in a very trendy area, not with her salary at a very entry-level job in an office. And her parents aren't wealthy; they're normal middle-class, so it's not like they're bankrolling the difference.
When Bridget is walking to the Kafka's Motorbike launch, there is a quick flash of a marquee showing the outside temperature as 50 degrees Celsius however everyone is wearing coats, hats, and scarves as though it were 50 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. 50 degrees Celsius is equivalent to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

Anachronisms

Bridget uses Microsoft MSN Explorer software on her Apple Mac computer. MSN Explorer for the Mac was released only in 2002.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

(at around 1h 10 mins) As Daniel and Mark push their way into the restaurant, Bridget is heard shouting "No, no, no, no!" as she runs across to stop them, but her mouth doesn't move.

Crew or equipment visible

(at around 32 mins) When the scarf flies off Bridget's head in the convertible, the hand of the person pulling the scarf of is visible.
When Bridget comes home from the party, we can clearly see a crew member's reflection in a picture frame.
(at around 31 mins) The reflection of a camera crane is visible on the boot of Daniel's car as Bridget runs round to the passenger side.
(at around 51 mins) When Bridget slides down the fireman's pole in Lewisham, a safety line is visible for a few frames.
(at around 47 mins) When Bridget stumbles off the exercise bike, a reflection of the boom operator and his boom mic is visible in the mirror.

Errors in geography

(at around 1h 29 mins) Bridget's flat is in Borough, but when Mark leaves it to buy her a new diary, he walks around the corner to the Royal Exchange, which is several miles away on the other side of the Thames.
(at around 11 mins) Tom's phone (a Nokia 3210) is in its American, not European, packaging.
