Its Appeal Will Probably Be Limited

Lower Falls, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone Park (1899)

When movies started to pick up some speed in the late 1890s one of the most popular were simple images of famous places throughout the country. You can guess what this film shows by the title. At just 26-seconds there's certainly nothing groundbreaking here and the only people this is going to be of interest to are those film buffs who enjoy these early films or nature buffs who simply want to see what these falls looked like in 1899. The Library of Congress page says that this was probably part of the "Northern Pacific Railway Series" and there's really nothing much to it. The camera stays in place and just captures the water going over the fall.
