In this Vitaphone featurette first released in 1944 and reissued in 1953, Craig Stevens plays famed American composer Stephen Foster. Using flashbacks, this two-reel short traces the life of Foster from the age of six until he dies old, penniless. and mostly forgotten. The film peeks in while Foster is penning such songs as "Oh, Susanna", "Camptown Races" and "Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair."
