A bit slow, a bit dry, but good

Takenouchi Yutaka (THE LONG VACATION), a real life rock star in Japan, plays Hasegawa Takashi, a young man who is feeling burned and used when it comes to matters of the heart. Tanaka Misato plays an innocent, shy and lonely lady bank worker named Murakami Amane. Both own a computer and use email.

By accident, they start emailing each other. What will happen?

Takenouchi Yutaka has charisma and can easily carry the lead, however here he makes his character seem extremely dark, withdrawn and depressed -- as if his personality is enclosed in a titanium shell -- it is a little unsettling. Your average suicidal character has more cheer.

Tanaka Misato shows great heart and the viewer instantly wants the best for her character.

WITH LOVE is a slow but interesting Japanese soap opera.

This TV series is lovely. Takenouchi Yutaka gave a convincing performance as Hasegawa Takashi,a person who doesn't believe in love. Tanaka Misato gave a real impression of Murakami Amane, a woman who is innocent and truly vulnerable. Even Oikawa Mitsuhiro gave such an impressive performance as Yoshida-san where we cannot help but feel disgusted with him, because he keeps pestering Amane. The TV series is only 12-hour long, so we don't have to wait for a long time for it to finish. Every episode ends bring more anxiety until the final episode concludes all. This is a must watch for those who believes that love still conquers all.

Haven't found With Love yet

I know there is or was a tape (set includes 2 tapes) for this TV series, "With Love". I watched this series on the International channel which took about 10 weeks. Later, a friend at work brought the tapes which he rented to work. The tapes didn't have English sub titles. I've been looking for the tapes since, but I cannot locate and for sale or rental. You can view small bits of the movie on Youtube if you search Yutaka Takenouchi. I want to let my wife see this movie so if anyone knows where to purchase the tapes, please post it on this board. I think this movie was the precursor to the movie, "You've got mail". I am going to Tokyo soon and I will look around and see if there is a copy of this movie there.

A very cool Japanese drama (but a pox on FCI for ending subtitles.)

I was lucky enough to stumble onto this drama on the International Channel when it aired - but I'm fairly certain I missed the first two or three episodes.

It is indeed a little slow, but that pace was refreshing after years of short-attention-span American television fare. My only complaint is that the "missed opportunities" for the two principle characters to discover each other's identity was a little contrived and beyond believability - the audience was kept hanging on so long it was like "Figure it out already!!" Still, it kept me glued to the tube and eagerly awaiting the next week's installment.

The near-immediate announcement thereafter, that Japan's FCI network ("With Love"'s producer,) had decided to prohibit further captioning of its programs, was a major blow and an extremely stupid decision in my view. What better way to foster closer ties, better understanding, and what Rush drummer/lyricist Neil Peart once referred to as "cultural cross-pollination" than for a Japanese network to open a window of television drama for English-speaking viewers.

Does anyone have information about where to get the captioned series on DVD? I've seen it on Ebay in VCD format but only with Chinese subtitles.
