Leon Errol doesn't know that his wife, Vivian Tobin, is rehearsing for an amateur performance of a melodrama. He does get it in his head she is cheating on him. When he spies on her, and sees her shoot (blanks) at her fellow actor and stuff the body (actually a dummy) in a hamper, he tries to save her from the cops by grabbing the hamper and running away with it.
Vivian Tobin, who played Errol's wife in his shorts in this period, was the younger sister of Genevieve Tobin; you can see the family resemblance. This is not one of the better shorts in the series, but the mugging is always good and the final gag is definitely worth sticking around for.
