A Big Water Fall
Passaic Falls (1897)
The title pretty much tells you everything you need to know about this film, which clocks in at just around twenty seconds. There's really nothing overly ground-breaking here as the camera is placed far away from the falls but it gives us a very good shot of how big it actually is. I've always enjoyed watching these old movies simply because it gives you an idea of how things looked back then but it also shows what people were willing to pay for. Movies were still quite new and obviously there was no television so I'm sure many people's only chance to see something like the Passaic Falls was by paying five cents and watching a film like this.
