This is a really funny film. Basically there is a woman called Agavi, who is a maid to another woman called Nina.
Nina is the posh middle class woman, whilst Agavi is employed as her servant for a while, then becomes her friend.
The film is set in the 1950's/60's with flashbacks to the 1920's. 30's and the war years.
There is a lot to be said about this film, it is really entertaining and does really live up to the original book.
The film contains many different issues, including prostitution, petty crime, homosexuality, re-marriage, relationships with one's offspring.
