A grim document about diseases contracted in the workplace, the camera doesn't hesitate to penetrate areas where life is cheap. The film takes us to Sudbury, Thetford Mines, Elliot Lake, and St. Lawrence, Newfoundland. It shows workers, widows, doctors, and a union leader on a fact-gathering campaign designed to throw light on a social problem that is only now beginning to emerge from the carefully preserved obscurity of the modern industrial workplace.
