This is a hilarious little animated film, which shows how the gods gave first gave fire to man, warning him always to be careful with it, lest it destroy rather than help. The film then traces the evolution of man from the caveman (snuggling in his cave with Eve, who's already complaining that the fire's too hot) up until the present day, and alongside it, the development of his relationship with fire. The modern product of all this evolution is a grouchy couch potato, who has forgotten the warnings of the gods, and abuses fire by overloading his electrical plug with TVs, toasters, coffee makers, lamps, and everything else. Finally, disaster ensues, and the story ends as it began, with the gods angry again... This is a first-class, funny piece of animation from the great National Film Board of Canada.
