I love the films of the French filmmaker Georges Méliès. He was highly innovative for his time and his films are still enjoyable today. That being said, because he made over 500 films in only about a decade and a half, he also had a habit of being repetitive...using the same bag of magic tricks in nearly all of his films. Because of this, "The Rajah's Dream" seems quite familiar.
The film consists of the Rajah going to sleep and all sorts of weird stuff appears and disappears again and again until he ultimately awakens. To make this effect, the director turned the camera on and off...adding or taking away or changing things each time. Simple stuff but innovative for 1900 and quite fun.
