Le déjeuner du chat (1895), or the Cat's Lunch (1895), is another Lumière film, produced in 1895, that probably wasn't released to paying audiences until early 1896. It probably kept the 1895 tag, because it was shown to a test audience that year. What I find so interesting about this film, is how well the cat and the little girl stay in frame. It is quite a well framed shot. This is the best acting by a cat and kid ever to this point. He is an odd looking cat, with a splash of, what looks like, white paint, on his left eye. He actually looks at the camera (or you), before he starts cleaning his face. The 135 year old, little girl, starts to disrupt the 130 year old cat with a plate of milk. It is a playful moment, that creates a chuckle. Le deujener du chat (1895), is like a 19th century YouTube video. One of the first.
