A great video, especially for the pack-rats

I have made no secret of loving Winnie the Pooh, the stories are classics as are the short films Honey Tree, Blustery Day and Tigger Too(which make up the immensely charming The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh). The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh(of which three episodes are featured here) is one of Disney's best series, and here on Sharing and Caring you can see why. It is not as good as perhaps Helping Others, Detective Tigger and especially Making Friends but it, like all the videos in the collection are definitely worth watching for kids and adults.

The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh has always been one of my favourites for the beautiful animation and music, the simplicity and innocence of the stories, the humorous writing, the timeless characters and great voice acting(especially Paul Winchell).

"Lights Out" has everything I love about the show and more, and of the three episodes I'd say this one has the best moral. But what I love most about it are the little things and the writing. For example I think Gopher's reactions to anybody saying the word "dark" are priceless, and likewise with everyone runs into Pooh, the candle goes out and he keeps lighting the candle again and again. I have always loved the show for the writing, and as usual it is very amusing, with the best being "Heffamadingles" and "Can't Say I like my face either..."

"The Rats that Came to Dinner" is one of many episodes of the show I have a soft spot for. The animation has such beauty and atmosphere to it, there is a certain jauntiness to the music, the story is charming and the episode has some wonderful writing and a moral about not judging without the facts". Although all the characters are delightful, the stars are the cute pack-rats, seeing them here you'd wonder why there wasn't any more of them.

"No Rabbit's a Fortress" is my least favourite episode on the tape, but I still enjoy it a lot. Rabbit is not the most likable character of the show, in fact he can be quite mean, but he actually learns from his mistakes which is the case here. I love the slap-stick comedy, especially with the trapping boobies idea, and the animation, music and story bounce along nicely. The writing is every bit as delightful with my favourite exchange being "How could you? You're in my garden./ We are?/The signs say: KEEP OUT (OWT), among other things. Can't you read them./ I can read them I just can't see them." And how can I forget Rabbit's "Oh yeah. It's right outside the (sees that he's stuck) door?! (panics) Ahh! The door! I've forgot to open the door! I can't get out! I can't! Doomed! Did you hear?! Wait! Oh, Pooh! Tigger! Please come back!"

All in all, a great video with wonderful stories and morals, and I just love the pack-rats. 10/10 Bethany Cox
