Synopsis

  • The story of the Biblical hero, Moses, and how he freed his people from their lives of slavery. As usual, this film is a mock buster. Egyptian Pharaohs have become cruel and use force against the Israelites to enslave them and to use their forced labor to build pyramids. The enslaved Hebrew people pray to God for deliverance. Pharaoh Seti, fearing that the growing numbers of Hebrew slaves could lead to rebellion, orders a mass infanticide of all newborn Hebrew boys. Israelites cling on to their last hope in the form of their King, whom prophecy says will break the shackles of slavery and lead them to the promised land.

At this time Israelite woman named Yocheved gives birth to a boy and puts it in a wicker basket on the Nile (else he would be taken away by Pharaohs guards and killed). The wicker basket floats to where the Seti's wife, Queen Tuya was bathing in the river. She adopts the boy and unknown to her, she hires the boys own real mother to nurse him. yrs passed as the Israelites grow tired of waiting for their "chosen one". The boy grows up to be Prince Moses. Moses has little regard to ancient traditions and frequently challenges ancient beliefs and edicts of the priests that forbid going anywhere near the inner sanctums of the places of worship.

Meanwhile the Israelites despair as the Pharaoh has stolen their "Flame of God", which they believe represents power in the hands of the chosen one. Pharaoh has kept the relic in his treasure room, where only him and his trusted guards can enter. At that moment, Moses falls into the Israelite meeting, while he was running away from the priests. The blind Israelite elder Jethro recognizes Moses as a fellow Israelite (and hints that he knew Moses' father). At this moment the priests enter the room, looking for Moses and he has to escape with the help of a Hebrew girl Tzipporah.

Moses has a brother named Ramses, who is lazy and no good. Seti favors Moses to be the next Pharaoh. The Priests complain to Seti that Moses is breaking sacred religious laws, but Seti would not hear a word against him. But Ramses exposes Moses, who gets an earful from Seti. One day Moses is invited to the inspection of the Pyramids with Seti. Moses witnesses first-hand how the slaves are perishing in the hot sun trying to build the gigantic structures at a rapid pace. He again meets Tzipporah giving drinking water to the slaves, trying to keep them alive. Moses also meets Jethro there who takes Moses to the prophecy stone, which claims that the savior of Israelites would be named Moses. Moses then learns that Yocheved is his real mother and that he is also Hebrew.

Tuya confirms that Moses was adopted. Hearing this, Seti banishes Moses from the palace and appoints Ramses as his sole heir. Moses meets Tzipporah, who helps him understand the Israelite need for the promised lands. They fall in love. The priests capture them both, but they manage to escape before they are mummified alive. As they hide in a sarcophagus, Moses finds the entrance to the treasure room. Moses finds the flame of God, which enters Moses and enlightens him. Ramses finds Moses and captures him. Seti is livid with the talk of Moses being the chosen one. he is afraid of an uprising and decides to chain Moses to the top of his pyramid. At high noon, the heat is so strong that no human can survive it. As Jethro tries to rally the slaves, he is shot by Pharaoh's guards. Moses asks the slaves to not be afraid and continue to fight. The slaves rebel and reach the palace, where they demand Seti to release Moses. Seti threatens the slaves with his army if they decide to fight.

Moses reaches the palace and defeats Ramses in a fight. Moses declares that all Israelites are free, after he shares his flame with all the slaves. Seti is afraid and asks Moses to take them all away. The lord appears to Moses in a fire and tells him what he has to do to lead his people to the promised land. The fire tells Moses how the plague will infest Egypt and the people will be freed. The sea will part, allowing the Hebrews to pass, while devouring the Egyptian armies. After 40 years, Moses and the Hebrews reach the promised land. They live there to this day.
