Out of the family nest.

These inseparables are not birds but members of a family ,a mother and her three children ,three immature persons who have not found themselves yet.

Robert is a failed actor who has to make do with very small supporting parts ("you were in the TV film last night ,but I did not see your name on the magazine" )He's got a chip on his shoulder ,which can be explained,if we are to believe him ,by the harshness of his late father; he cannot even stand a meal in a restaurant with his family ,and finds solace with an old couple ("I wish you were my parents!")

Gisèle is one of her friends' husband's lover ;she urges him to leave her to no avail ;a rather selfish woman, she often acts as a substitute mother to her brother who is her senior and finds it hard to bear.

"Momo" ,who still lives with mom , is a mentally retarded man ;because he does not realize his state ,he may be the happiest in the family ,a simple-minded person who enjoys choosing a dish on the menu of the restaurant ,and contemplating the fish swimming in the aquarium.

The mother is a woman who frets ,because none of her children is married ,and her hopes of a grandchildren are not fulfilled ;besides ,at seventy -five, she knows that her days are numbered ,and what will become of "Momo",when she has gone?

What has fate in store for such losers?

Needless to say , the actors are impeccable: Darroussin is ideally cast as this actor down on his luck who sees his live passing him by;Catherine Frot is a very credible false ' big sister" ;but Daniel Isoppo is perhaps the stand out in a thankless part of this idiot who thinks his brother Robert is "De Niro".Short appearance by Maurice Garrel and Francine Bergé ,as the "adoptive " parents.
