No Chickens Were Harmed In The Making Of This Movie: Just the Wrap Party
boblipton27 November 2021
A couple of black men -- White men in blackface -- steal some chickens. They leave, to be pursued by another couple of men, one armed with a scythe, the other with a gun.

It's 1897, so we can't expect much sophistication out of American film makers, and it's James White, so we can't expect any. What we can hope for is that he places the camera to actually show at is going on, and although he does show his propensity for showing the audience the backs of peoples' hats, at least you can see what they're doing.

Chicken Thieves review
JoeytheBrit22 April 2020
As you'd expect of a movie from those unenlightened times, the thieves are black. It's about as action-packed as a 30 second movie can be, with the chicken farmer and his hand, armed with shotgun and scythe, giving chase within the frame of the stationary camera.
