Dev Kumar gave the producer a verbal thrashing because he felt the producer was only concentrating on Kunal Goswami and giving him extra and special treatment and ignoring daughter Maneesha. He felt this was due to Kunal being Manoj Kumar's son.
All hell broke loose during the making of the film. Maneesha's mother stated that Maneesha would have had a nervous break if she had not returned to Bombay. Kunal Goswami was treated like a star while Maneesha was treated like a junior artiste. The directed Durrai wanted Maneesha to do a bikini scene. Maneesha's mother put her foot down and stated she would not do any such scene. This was agreed upon the contract signing. Durrai had not paid Maneesha her full fees even though Maneesha agreed to cooperate to complete the film. Durrai wanted to extend the Madras schedule. But Maneesha had to come back for her examinations in Bombay. Durrai threatened the Kohli's and stated they could not leave Madras until he would allow them. Finally the Kohli's decided to quietly leave the hotel and come back to Bombay. When Durrai found out about this he informed the local police. But the police were unable to bring them back after she told the police what happened. Durrai stated that he did not blame Maneesha but blamed Maneesha's mother. He stated she insulted one of the unit members and would control Maneesha all the time. Maneesha's mother delayed the Bombay release by refusing to let Maneesha dub for the film.
The producer had sold the Hindi remake rights to Subhash Verma. He later changed his mind and took back his script. Durai then directed the film himself.
Years later Kunal Goswami admitted the reason why he was not successful was because he became a actor at too young of an age. He was born on November 1965 and that would make him 18 when the film released. The audience could not accept him in adult situations. He could not pass off as a full grown adult. The reason why he became a actor was because when producers would come to see Manoj at home, they would be meet Kunal and be impressed. Kunal had become 6 feet tall and producers felt he could pass off as a leading man in films. But he was only 16 years old still very immature looking . Kunal at first was hesitant. When ever producers would come to.see him, he would slip out of the back door to avoid them. Kunal finally decided to take the offers due to several other star sons debuting around the same time. He would later regret this when he realized he should have waited a few more years. By the time he re debuted in 1989,it was too late. The audience did not want to accept him any more.
Kunal Goswami stated he was not surprised the film flopped. It was sloppily made due to financial problems. Plus Manisha Kohli was uncooperative and insecure.Things were not going smooth.
