Police Patrol Wagon (1897)
This Edison film runs a mere 9-seconds so naturally you shouldn't be going into this thing expecting any sort of documentary or hard-hitting story. The brief seconds simply show us some police getting onto the wagon and getting ready to take off. You might ask what the point of watching something like this would be but I'd say it shows you a great part of history that we simply couldn't see without this early films. Any movie made today can try and recreate 1897 but it's simply not the same as actually getting to see footage from this era. It was fascinating to see the great uniforms, the wagon and I loved the old looking buildings in the background. I'm sure many would view these seconds as nothing more than boring images but as a film buff and one interested in history I always find it fun seeing these early bits of cinema.
