- An aspiring horror movie writer searches for love in a world of heartache, desperation and fluffy toys.
- A "slacker" comedy following a few days in the lives of half a dozen twenty-somethings in King's Cross, the Greenwich Village or Soho of Sydney, Australia. Dean manages a video rental store but spends most of his time watching horror films and trying to write a screenplay for a zombie epic. His flatmate, Jade, desultorily applies for dead-end jobs well below her intelligence level, while their friend Ian, a fugitive from the middle-class Western Suburbs, struggles to make it as a stand-up comedian. Any time not spent watching films by George Romero or Dario Argento is occupied in the unsatisfactory pursuit of sex, and, in Dean's case, in trying to overcome a lack of confidence caused by an adolescent disaster involving a teenage girlfriend and her collection of stuffed animals. He tries on-line dating, but this simply makes matters worse when his provocative internet correspondents prove to be two precocious 12-year-olds who, what's worse, disapprove of horror films. Fortunately, the aimless existence of Dean, Jane and Ian is shattered by two newcomers. Mole, a delinquent, arouses Jade's maternal instincts. May, a thoughtful Goth, drifts into Dean's life and helps him confront the angst of his adolescent sexual hang-ups, while an invitation to a party with old friends from his earlier life gives Ian his chance to exercise his stand-up skills.
