It's one of the best places in the world to see Boobies.

This installment of "Cousteau Odyssey" takes the crew of the Calypso to one of the more awful places in the series. Clipperton Island is pretty much in the middle of no where in the Pacific...the closest mainland is Central America, over a thousand miles away from this volcanic atoll. But its remoteness isn't the only reason it's awful, as through the course of the show you'll see Cousteau and a couple of his men diving in the lagoon...where the water at depths is like a vat of acid!! Additionally, late in the show you learn the history of the forgotten settlement...where murder, rape and more occurred!

As far as natural life goes, the main focus are the birds, as two of the largest concentration of Boobies nest there, though Frigate Birds and Terns nest there as well. Apart from that, there are the ubiquitous crabs and some weird Moray Eels that come up on land to feed on the crabs!!! Truly a strange, barren and unforgiving place...but also the makes for an interesting show.
