- A young wife instigates a duel between a dashing count, with whom she has been having an affair, and her elderly husband. In the duel, the husband is mortally wounded and his now repentant wife chooses to join him in death.
- The romance and adventure of the world, when not founded on man's wanderlust, is nearly always based on his infatuation for woman. And since it would not be exciting enough for us mortals unless there were some element of difficulty in the knight's courtship, our voracity is usually appeased with a third party in the case, and here we have the eternal triangle, the ever present three, be either two men in the pursuit of one woman or vice versa. Our particular story tells us of a game warden, a middle-aged man, who is guilty of the heinous crime of having a wife a good deal younger than himself and loving her dearly. And perhaps it is that the old man is even too attentive that she is so easily won by a young count, who comes to hunt on the estate. The affable old warden gives this noble the freedom of his home, and the young man promptly takes advantage of every chance to make love to his host's wife. The warden would never know of their clandestine walks in the woods were it not for poacher, who, to escape the wrath of the warden, takes him to the spot where the count and wife are cooing. With a heart full of anguish he raises the rifle and aims at them, but his feelings overcome him, and he defers his vengeance. His chance comes. Smilingly be Informs the count one day that he has seen the tracks which mean big game, and the latter accompanies him. As soon as they get on a great rock overlooking a canyon the warden pours out his aching heart, and call the count to defend his life. The wife has divined what may have happened, and, following the two men, comes upon them as they are locked in mortal combat, the warden hanging over the brink, the count desperately struggling to break his grip. Just as the wife comes on the scene he succeeds, and the warden's form goes hurtling into the chasm below. She faces the survivor of the awful struggle for a moment, then seems to realize how the man she case aside did really love her. And slowly, deliberately, she walks to the edge of the cliff, raises her eyes to heaven, and in another second walks into space, her body shooting down the canyon to join the man who deserved her most alive.—Moving Picture World synopsis
