Cute example of shoestring filmaking which combines lots of talent and ambition with very little cash and sometimes produces something unique and inspired.

This sweetly daffy little throwback to classic crazy comedy was filmed in Oregon, shown in a couple local theaters, one local fest, and for one night at an indie fest in NYC (where it lost most of any potential audience to sports playoffs). Thank heavens it was picked up for DVD release, for it is quite fascinating as living proof that a films budget matters far less than the talent of the people spending it (by the way the first three items mentioned in the list of "Thanks" in the closing credits are major credit card companies!) Brightly written script is a blend of sci-fi, mystery, and romance. The appealing cast includes handsome Peter Paige a year or two before he stepped into the colorful role of Emmet on "Queer as Folk", here his most vibrant accessory is a tiny dog who steals scenes with barely a growl. The entire cast has the sincerity and sense of fun that doing a project because it is worth doing often brings. The DVD is well worth a rent...if only for the fascinating special features detailing it's whirlwind creation...Also check out the section profiling the digital wiz who created the enormously enjoyable score entirely in his back bedroom....adding immeasurably to a small gem.
