Plot Summary

Andras owns a beautiful cat, Kato, upon whom he lavishes his affection. The cat, too, loves her master, and the pair are constantly jeered at by Andras' companions. At length Andras prays that the gods will change Kato into a woman, and transformed she is. A lovely woman to all appearances, Kato still possesses a cat's characteristics, and she chases rats and mice, scratches her table companions, and behaves in the usual way a cat does. She also deserts Andras and bestows her affection upon another, much to the favored one's disgust. At length Andras beseeches the gods to give him back his cat, and they, seeing he has been sufficiently punished for his discontent, transform Kato back to her original state.
