"Flying Swordsgirl" (Chan Po-Chu) and her little sister Hsiao Wei are living on an jungle island whose only other inhabitant is an old hermit. One day, Hsiao Wei captures a wounded man in her fishing-net. He survived the attack of bandits, but they are following him from the mainland to the island. Our dear Swordsgirl proves, however, that she cannot only climb on trees, but is a courageous fighter against the evil invaders. And her brave little sister is eager to learn.
This is an old-fashioned 1960s adventure flick, cheaply shot mostly in a forest, with the naive charm of the 1950s Sheena series. Some sword fighting, a bit of tragedy, but not a particularly violent movie and suitable for a teenage audience, too. I rather liked it, even though the scratched, pale copy that survived 40 years to finally become a DVD isn't a perfect example of what the words "digitally remastered" mean.
