First, you have to be convinced that Muriel Evans would wed James Finlayson.
horn-513 June 2006
Which may be the reason she kept a pet dog. Anyway, Muriel's dog is sick and she calls the vet. Muriel is also having her husband---Mr. Finlayson---examined for more insurance. Not insurance...more insurance.

Finlayson gets the vet's call but assumes it is the insurance doctor prescribing for him whatever it is that he needs to take in order for Muriel to get more insurance on him. The prescription (for the dog) is a diet of raw meat, castor oil (no, not Olive's brother) and grass.

Finlayson, not being one who would hinder his ever-loving sweetie from getting more insurance on him, is soon discovered in the garden eating grass. This tends to make Muriel and Hilda the Maid (Gertrude Short)figure that ol' Jimmy has gone nuts (and Laurel & Hardy are nowhere in sight)so Muriel calls in a psychiatrist named Dr. Brunschweiger (Harrison Greene), and the next thing that happens is that Finlayson is being hauled off to the Vet's in a dog wagon.

It ends there so we never know if Muriel was able to get more insurance on Finlayson or not, nor if Finlayson left any raw meat and castor oil for the sick dog. No, we don't know who played the dog, but it wasn't any of those gender-bending, cross-dressing dogs that people think were named Lassie just because they played Lassie.

And Finlayson never asked Muriel..."how much more... and why," which is a clear indicator that the usually-thrifty Finlayson was off his feed.

Part of the Radio Flash Comedies series from RKO-Radio.
